A more accessible and modern resource page.

At itslearning, we’re committed to building a learning platform that works for everyone—and that includes making it more accessible, easier to navigate, and modern in design. That’s why we’re excited to unveil the redesigned Resource Page: a cleaner, smarter, and more user-friendly experience for both teachers and students.

Why we made this change

The heart of this redesign is accessibility. We wanted to ensure that all users—including those using screen readers or navigating without a mouse—can fully manage and explore their resources. This meant rethinking certain outdated elements and replacing them with better, more inclusive solutions.

One major change? The removal of the resource tree, which wasn’t accessible for everyone. But we listened to your feedback and introduced a better alternative: the Content Map.

The Content Map replaces the old, inaccessible tree menu on the left side of your Resource page. Now, whenever you’re inside a folder and upload files or create new items (like an Assignment or Test), they automatically appear in this clear, table-of-contents-style overview.

Note on Drag & Drop:
To ensure full keyboard and screen-reader accessibility, drag-and-drop is not supported in the Content Map. All actions—like uploading or moving items—can be completed via buttons and keyboard shortcuts.

What’s New?

  • Breadcrumb Navigation
Say goodbye to getting lost in folders. With new breadcrumbs, navigating back and forth between folders is easier than ever—whether you use a mouse or keyboard.
  • Content Map (Accessible Tree View)
The old folder tree is gone, and in its place is a sleek Content Map that provides an accessible table-of-contents-style overview of your resources. With clearly labeled icons and an improved structure, this view is optimized for all users.
  • Easier Access to Trash
No more hidden menus! The Trash is now clearly available on the left-hand side of the Resource page. Teachers can easily restore or permanently delete items with just a click.
  • Improved Keyboard Navigation
The entire Resource Page has been optimised for keyboard use. Navigate, open, and manage files without ever touching a mouse.
  • Better Screen Reader Compatibility
We’ve fine-tuned the page to work seamlessly with screen readers, offering a smoother experience for visually impaired users.
  • Recently Published Section
Back by popular demand! The new Recently Published view makes it easy for students to see the latest content added by their teachers—no more hunting through folders.
  • Pin Your Key Resources
Tired of searching for your go-to documents? With My Pinned Resources, you can now pin up to 10 important items for quick access. And when you're done? Just unpin it. This feature is available for both students and teachers.

Adapting to the New Experience

We understand that changes to familiar interfaces take time to adjust to. But rest assured—these updates are designed to improve navigation and efficiency in the long term. This is a global update, and the old resource tree will no longer be available.

We're confident that the new Resource Page will offer a smoother, more inclusive experience for everyone using itslearning.
